Most computer supplies don't have a high enough voltage for charging batteries…….Most produce less than 12 volts and a 12 volt battery needs at least13.1 volts to charge it

Dangerous advice because there is no protection against reverse polarity. Connect it to a healthy battery in reverse and you will have a wiring fire on your hands.

Won't work anyway because as already stated you cannot charge a 12v battery with 12v.

  6. George Korn says:

Gots house fire written all over it.

  7. Cooper Cruse says:

Im not sure about this but a PC does have 3 power rails , 12v 5v and 3.3v I dont know if the power supply puts out the 3.3 but if it does why not connect the 12v and 3.3 together you should get around 14.6-15 v if thats the case. I will have to hunt down a power supply and have a look. Still good for many other things as well though.

  8. kigabuma says:

Use a UPS to charge a car battery. It gives 13.6 volt. Take out the battery in UPS and connect the car battery to UPS with suitable cable. I charged my car battery in this way. It had been exhausted.
